Abstract: The advent of 5G has opened up multiple industry verticals including Media & Entertainment, Intelligent Transportation Systems, CV2X, etc. While the fundamental offerings of 5G (enhanced broadband, ultra-reliable low latency, and massive machine-type communication) have played a major role in enabling industry verticals, there is a significant role also played by the technology integrations with 5G, including Edge Computing, Cloud and Intelligent (AI-based) Software Defined Networks (SDN). Artificial Intelligence based Networking, Analytics at the Edge/Cloud, among others have made 5G a predictable, reliable, and automated network.
In our tutorial, we are going to present how 5G, along with cutting-edge technologies like Edge, Cloud, and SDN provides enhanced user experience. We will also give a gist of the current research work in this field. In our tutorial, we will highlight some of the Industrial Applications of 5G across verticals and share our views on the role of AI-based Analytics at Edge/Cloud/Networks in simplifying the delivery of these industrial applications.

Biography: Shailesh Prabhu has over 5 years of research experience in 5G, Software Defined Networking, and Optical Wireless Communication. He has filed 9+ US patent applications in 5G-related domains including 7 granted patents. Shailesh has published 3 papers in International Conferences including ANTS 2019 and has also delivered tutorial sessions at premier IEEE conferences including ANTS 2020, 2021, National Conference on Communication (NCC) 2019, hosted by IISc, Bangalore. He also has participated in global 5G solution showcases like Mobile World Congress 2019, India Mobile Congress 2019, etc. He graduated from Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal in Electronics and Communication Engineering.
